Remote Pilot 107 Ground School Program
Course Description_Phase Two
(Intense Instructor-led hands-on course)
Introduction to GIS
This portion of the SDA 20-30 hours Ground School course is focused on
introducing individuals to an intense hands-on Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) using ESRI ARGIS software, enforced with lab exercises.
Introduction to 3D modeling
The course will include an overview of 3D modeling with Pix4D mapping and pix4Dreact, a drone fast-mapping software for emergency response.
Within the program structure, we will ensure all students have an
understanding of Risk Management as it relates to UAV mission and crew.
Classroom Discussion
Risk Management as it relates to UAV missions and Crew

and finally, an overview of UAV coding.
All students will experience simulated and actual manual (atti) hands-on flying throughout both program phases.
SDA Simulator and Real-Time flight training Requirements
Students must fly (8 hrs) SDA professional simulators program in manual mode to grasp the concept of flying without causing damage or harm to others while gaining confidence in the navigation control and the UAV.
Real-Time Flight Training - Tello
Students will sign out a Tello (Drone) with a remote controller and an IPAD Mini 4 (after the course fee is paid) to practice 30 hours of manual mode indoor flying under SDA guidelines. At the end of the training, the student will be
familiarized with maneuvering a quad-copter UAS platform.
On-Site Real-Time Flight Training Exam
Each student must demonstrate they can fly the Tello (Drone) using a remote controller through the SDA obstacle course without hitting any obstacles and perform this task three times in a row.

The SDA will review all student registrations with approvals sent to students NO LATER THAN 2 weeks before the class.
Registration does not guarantee a seat in the class.

Failure to attend a class you have registered for could
result in a forfeit or a discounted course refund fee.
**Student will be issued a hand receipt to sign out a Tello training system to meet actual time flight requirements and obstacle course exam.
($600.00 deposit is required when signing out Tello training equipment)
